Indoors and outdoors are NOT interchangeable. Materials may work well in one, but not the other.
The ceiling fan in the picture is a perfect example. It’s intended use, by the maker, was for indoor installation. But, somehow it found its way to a back porch, where it was subjected to every exterior force Nature could bestow – heat, cold, humidity, and gravity. The poor little particle-board fan blades never stood a chance.
It’s the same with every building material know to man. It must be so with you. Your task is to ask, every time, is this thing (whatever it is) suited for installation inside or outside. If you don’t ask, then someday that will be your ceiling fan. -AB-
